V The Beyond the Basics Quiz

PLEASE CLICK HERE TO SEE MORE RECENT WEB PAGES

Here is another opportunity to practise using FoodFocus to solve nutrition analysis problems.

Objectives

After this quiz, you will be able to judge how well you understand FoodFocus capabilities described in this tutorial. As in the Basic Quiz, how you go about solving a problem is more important than the final answer. Even if you already know the answer, think how about how you could help someone find the answer themselves so that the answer will be hopefully be more meaningful and long lasting.

Quiz

The suggested approach is to try and answer each question in order (using FoodFocus to help you), then click on the Answer field after each question. That will display the anwer for that question at the top of your screen. Then click on Next Question to show you the next question at the top of the screen. Keep doing that until you have finished all 12 questions. (If you usually print the lesson so you have a paper copy to work with, you will find that the set of answers follows the set of questions. We only tell you this to help you avoid inadvertently peeking at the answers.)

Hint: Try to answer each question as simply as possible by using the lowest level approach you can. Three levels to consider are:

  1. Level 1- Temporary List Only: If the food quantity is 100 grams or if the food quantity is relative (so that you can assume the food quantity to be 100 grams for comparison purposes) and if you can get the foods of interest in the same temporary list, you may be able to get the answer using only a temporary list.
  2. Level 2- Food List: If a specific food quantity (other than 100 grams) is involved or if the foods are not easily included in the same temporary list or if the question involves Recommended Nutrient Intake, you will probably want to add the foods with their specific quantities into a new food list.
  3. Level 3- Multiple Food Lists: You may need multiple food lists if you are comparing sets of foods. You may wish to be able to save and reload food lists. You may wish to print out the data about each alternative or make notes about specific nutrients.

    The questions start here:
